Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Description



    As the lead statistician for the Michigan Cancer Registry, the individual in this position is solely responsible statewide for preparing complex interpretive statistical tabulations and survival rates for various types of cancer in Michigan. In addition, this position processes special requests and provides technical direction to the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program, which provides key information to programs both inside the Department across Bureaus and external to the Department. The analyses prepared by this position help to identify health concerns for the State of Michigan and local communities. This position serves as the liaison overseeing data requests and working with researchers to prepare and submit Data Use Agreements and Institutional Review Board reviews. Primary duties of the position are: quality control and statistical analyses of the cancer incidence database, statistical programming necessary to automate health information for the Internet, development and implementation of procedures for responding to requests for statistical analysis and information from the Department of Health and Human Services, local public health departments, and the public, development of goals and plans for future program directions, provision of methodological and procedural guidance for public health programs involved in health surveillance.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education
    Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in statistics.

    Experience
    Four years of professional experience in the systematic collection, compilation and interpretation of numerical data equivalent to a Statistician, including two years equivalent to a Statistician P11 or one year equivalent to a Statistician 12.

    Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 333 South Grand Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

    Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
    Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
    • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
    • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
    • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
