General Description:

 Responsible for the daily maintenance of floors in the facility including ancillary areas. Refinishes and maintains and deep cleans all floor surfaces. Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work various hours as determined by the supervisor/manager.

Essential Functions:

• Operates cleaning equipment such as manual and electric wringers, vacuum, burnisher, scrubber, polisher, and carpet extractors.
• Sweeps and mops floor areas, vacuums carpets, spot-cleans carpets and furniture using appropriate solutions, and arranges furniture and equipment in back to their original placement after cleaning assigned area. Adheres to chemical usage procedures.
• Strips and refinishes floors as directed. Shampoos and extracts carpets.
• Properly cleans, maintains and stores equipment
• Returns unused supplies to janitor closet. Maintains adequate supplies in janitor closet.
• Reports any equipment that is malfunctioning or needs preventative maintenance.
• Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops and community affairs.
• Practices universal safety precautions.
• Performs housekeeping and other duties as assigned
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education & Training Requirements:

• High school graduate preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License at class “D” or above
• Must meet insurance requirement to drive hospital vehicles or use personal vehicle and provide proof of current insurance coverage
• Two years of floor care / refinishing experience with the ability to operate burnishers, scrubbers and carpet extractors, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to deal with industrial equipment.
• Healthcare cleaning experience preferred.
