  • The Biochemist II will operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide variety of automated laboratory equipment that utilizes ELISA, EIA, and colorimetry, and performs specimen aliquoting and batch creation. He or she is also responsible for review and verification of specimen validity and screening data.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:    
    • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide variety of laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: ELISA, EIA, and colorimetry.
    • Maintain positive specimen identification through the use of barcodes and ‘Chain of Custody’ procedures.  
    • Ensure that appropriate reference materials (calibrators, controls) are included in each batch/sample analysis and meet acceptable criteria. Accurately prepare QC material as directed and needed.
    • Document and maintain instrument, reagent, and QC records per Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements. 
    • Review and verify instrumentation data for acceptable results. Post results in the LIMS system.
    • Accurately document batch data as necessary for automated delivery of batch sequences to the FMSL department.
    • Participate in AMR verification and instrument comparability studies 
    • Comply with all team and laboratory safety and quality procedures and requirements
    • Notify Shipping/Receiving/QC Departments of low stock and/or needed supplies.
    • Notify a member of Laboratory Leadership of any instrument/equipment issues immediately
    • Collaborate with Inside Sales, Data Entry and other teams to ensure appropriate testing is performed in a timely manner
    • Assist in basic accessioning techniques as necessary
    • Actively participate in process improvements, including CAPA teams and other improvement projects
    • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals 
    • Participate in data collection efforts within the laboratory
    • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
    • Communicate with coworkers, clients, vendors, and visitors professionally and respectfully
    • Ensure a tidy/clean workspace at all times
    • Other duties as required and assigned


    A Successful Candidate Must Possess:

    • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required
    • Must also hold Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician Licensure as well as ASCP or AMT MLT/MT certification


    Schedule:

    • Tuesday - Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
