Requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Biochemist has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Additionally, Biochemist works under immediate supervision.     GSK Apprenticeships are full-time entry level opportunities that offer high school graduates and community college students the opportunity to begin their career while studying towards their associate’s degree.

    This associate’s degree is fully funded by GSK, which YES, means NO COLLEGE DEBT!

    Education required :

    Must have earned a high school diploma or equivalency diploma by June 2024.

    High school GPA 2.5 ( B ) or above (4.0 scale)

    High school Algebra and Geometry or 2 units equivalent of academic math (GPA 2.5 or above in each case)

    High school English (GPA 2.5 or above)

    High school Biology or Chemistry (GPA 2.5 or above)

    Must have 0- 30 college credits

    Preferred requirements :

    Have studied AP Biology, or Chemistry at High School

    Language requirement : Written and spoken fluency in English

    Other requirements :

    Must be 18 years of age by August 1, 2024

    Less than 2 years of related work experience since graduating from high school

    If offered a position the candidate must be willing to enroll, and meet entry requirements, with one of GSK's partnering community colleges or technical institutions, in the preferred related instruction course.

    Must be able to commute daily to the GSK manufacturing facility and related community college or technical institution

    Start date : August 2024

    We are looking for highly motivated high school graduates with an interest in science who are looking to jump start their career in the biopharmaceutical industry.

    The apprenticeship program allows you to develop hands-on technical skillsin our quality control labs while continuing your education.

    Working at our biopharmaceuticalmanufacturing sites you will help to ensure we have the latest, safe, efficient, and reliable processes and equipment to deliver life-saving medicines and vaccines to people in 90 % of the world’s countries.

    This role will enable you to develop your skills in an industry that’s making radical changes to the way it develops and manufactures products.

    This entry-leveldevelopment opportunity offers you the chance to study towards nationally recognized qualifications while gaining hands-on, paid on-the-jobtraining.

    Our apprentices attend college part-time studying theory elements of the apprenticeship while working at a GSK Biopharma Manufacturing facility.

    Biochemist associate apprentices at Upper Merion will spend approx. 1 day per week studying towards an associate’s degree in Biotechnology at Montgomery County Community College.

    You will spend most of your week working in our qualitylabs, rotating through different departments, receiving tailored on-the-job training from our in-house industry experts.

    Over the 3- 4 years of the apprenticeship you will have a personal training programto help you develop and progress.

    What will you do?

    As a biochemist associate apprentice,you may get involved in the following activities :

    Operating specialist laboratory equipment and instrumentation to test our products and raw materials

    Learning about the process each drug or product follows from test tube through to full scale manufacturing.

    Developing analytical testing skills in line with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

    Operating specialist equipment to improve testing procedures

    Learning how data and documentationis managed and reviewed in a highly regulated industry

    Developing your knowledge in biochemistry

    Work in a compliant manner to ensure the safety of yourself, others and the protection of the environment
