Duties

• Serves as the principal advisor in the Montana/Dakotas State Office for policy and technical guidance for the wildlife program, including but not limited to bats, pollinators, big game and sensitive species.
• Co-manages the Greater sage-grouse biology and implementation programs with other state office staff to achieve conservation and management goals and objectives and to ensure compliance with bureau tracking, monitoring, and management requirements.
• Integrates wildlife/sensitive species management with other programs to achieve multiple use goals and objectives; incorporates wildlife management considerations in multi-disciplinary project planning (i.e. range, fuels, oil and gas etc).
• Serves as the principal state level expert for the conservation of bats, pollinators, big game and other sensitive species.
• Forms partnerships with state, federal and non-government organizations to identify research, collaboration, and restoration needs to conserve wildlife species and habitats; serves as program officer for agreements.
• Coordinates with other program leads to develop statewide budget proposals for the Wildlife program and analyzes and monitors implementation of these programs for compliance with funding levels and annual planned accomplishments.
• Participates on national teams that develop guidance and conservation measures for wildlife and sensitive species, and provides input to statewide land use planning efforts, and NEPA documents to ensure compliance with species conservation plans.
