Biomedical Engineer applies engineering and scientific principles and methodologies to design and develop medical technologies and devices to support and enhance patient care and improve healthcare outcomes. Conducts research and testing to address specific medical conditions, improve the performance of existing devices, and develop new products. Being a Biomedical Engineer collaborates with medical professionals to gather information for product specifications. Ensures that designs and devices meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards, such as the FDA regulations and ISO standards. Additionally, Biomedical Engineer utilizes or develops software to perform testing or integrate with devices. Requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Biomedical Engineer work is closely managed. Avera is currently seeking a highly motivated Biomedical Engineering Services Manager!

- As Biomedical Engineering Services Manager, Lead and/or participate in Bio Medical engineering system projects, including deciding on sole source service vendors, system service contracts, best practices, and policy and procedure development.
- Provide leadership to Service Area Supervisors.

Job Summary
Function as primary responsible contact with the Bio Medical Engineering Services Service Line. Manages repair and maintenance activities performed by Bio Medical Engineering staff across all Avera. Provides on-site and off-site leadership for all components of the medical equipment management program. Participates in the development of service line and entity continuous quality improvements initiatives. Maximizes patient safety by supporting proper use, application, and operational performance of patient care equipment. Act as technical resource to Bio Medical Engineering staff for repair and maintenance activities on equipment and related systems. Is the Manager for the Service Area Supervisors.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree or military equivalent in electronics or biomedical equipment technology required.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in this field required.
- A minimum of 2-4 years supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- ICC certification is preferred.
