Biomedical Engineer applies engineering and scientific principles and methodologies to design and develop medical technologies and devices to support and enhance patient care and improve healthcare outcomes. Conducts research and testing to address specific medical conditions, improve the performance of existing devices, and develop new products. Being a Biomedical Engineer collaborates with medical professionals to gather information for product specifications. Ensures that designs and devices meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards, such as the FDA regulations and ISO standards. Additionally, Biomedical Engineer utilizes or develops software to perform testing or integrate with devices. Requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Biomedical Engineer work is closely managed.     GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Research Associate works under the direct guidance of the Site Head and the general guidance of the senior staff. Research Associate is proficient in animal procedures/animal husbandry, grant, internal, and/or contract research studies according to the study protocols and to the company guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Proficient as a primary technician and in all aspects of a study cycle including, but not limited to:
    • Primary Technician role and responsibility on multiple basic studies;
    • Receipt, distribution, and husbandry of animals;
    • Orders and setups materials and supplies as required for projects;
    • Forms and study books preparation;
    • Dose calculation/verification;
    • Proficient technical skills (e.g. administration, blood collection, necropsy, etc.) ranging from basic to intermediate;
    • Anesthesia monitoring and use of anesthetics;
    • Observes, records, and reports atypical findings to veterinary staff or senior personnel;
    • Performs data quality control review according to SOPs or study protocols;
    • may function as a designated trainer.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Work Experience

    • AS or BS Degree in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred.
    • Certifications preferred: ALAT, LAT, LATG
    • Research Associate I: 1 or 2 years of experience in laboratory animal science experience

    Research Associate II: 3-5 years of experience in related laboratory animal science

    Research Associate III: 5 years of experience in laboratory animal science experience

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Physical dexterity to lift 50 - 100 lb. in weight.
    • Manual dexterity to operate facility equipment.
    • Visual acuity to handle potentially hazardous chemicals, cleaners, biologics (including, but not limited to direct handling of human byproducts and viruses) and/or sharps.

    ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Biological safety level (BSL) 1 and 2 laboratory and vivarium settings.

    SALARY RANGES:

    RA I: $32.00-37.00/HR

    RA II: $35.00-40.00/HR

    RA III: $40.00-47.50/ HR
