Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Director, Software Engineering - BMC2 and Autonomy (Onsite)
Engineering Director will lead the Collins Aerospace Software organization within Battle Management, Command & Control & Autonomy (BMC2/A). This role will manage an organization of software and cybersecurity professionals supporting programs in the development of products and across BMC2A Portfolio and sites.
The BMC2/A Software director is responsible for managing the creation, certification and maintenance of software design, integration, and test execution to meet the needs of program development teams. In this role, the Director will support the needs of the development while also fostering innovative approaches to modernizing our software development environments to better meet the needs of the business. The Director will help grow the organization’s capability to address the increasing number and complexity of software products emerging from the customer community.
Primary Responsibilities of this position include leading the BMC2/A Software organization in the following areas:
Creation, certification and management of software pipelines, factories, labs and networks across multiple sites and Strategic Business Units
Establish and lead a partnership with DT and enterprise engineering to provide requirements for a common & modernized software pipeline
Provide Leadership guidance and direction for the BMC2/A team, aligning with organizational goals
Oversee budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective planning/prioritization
Rollout and implementation of common engineering software policies and practices within BMC2/A
Support proposal teams to by reviewing and helping generate proposal plans along with proactively developing win strategies and roadmaps
Identifying risks within department or business and recommending improvement plans to control or mitigate said risks.
Identifying software training needs and closing those gaps with appropriate training
Hiring of software professionals for the organization, development of the software acumen, and expanding the pipeline
Proactively forecast growth and building a parametric to determine appropriate staffing, along with identification of any gaps
Provide technical expertise software architecture, development, integration and test
Proactively work to develop a strategic roadmap to support business development
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading software development, cybersecurity, integration and test engineering organizations and certification authorities with the ability to address and resolve technical challenges
Experience with internal policy release, rollout and communication process
Ability to work across organizational structures to develop common solutions
Expertise in managing complex projects, ensuring timelines, budgets and company procedures are met
Drive to push boundaries to usher in new technologies, designs and certification approaches
Proven ability to lead and inspire large teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective communication
Commitment in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, driving efficiency and excellence within the software development lifecycle
Active Top Secret U.S. Government issued security clearance preferred
