Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Biomedical Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Biomedical Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Biomedical Technician/Equipment Support Specialist-Level II

    Provide medical device support, such as corrective action, preventive maintenance under direct supervision. Responsible for daily record keeping and data reporting related to daily work schedule. New devices coming in. ( TV project, TUG project, Med-gas project, new EKGs, Philips upgrade, Anes cart upgrade, new beds, Dialysis pumps inventory management), CERNER.

    Location: VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

    Basic Qualifications

    The Contractor key personnel shall meet one of the following basic qualifications, regardless of role in the services provided under this contract:

    • Experience within a medical center and Biomedical Engineering department.
    • OR, Experience working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
    • OR, Understanding of VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering department operations

    In addition to the basic qualifications, the Contractor key personnel shall meet the following role-specific qualifications based on the core functions and services each will be providing under this contract.

    Role Specific Qualifications:

    • A two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
    • Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
    • Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards.
    • Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
    • Level II Experience - A minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance.

    Eligibility:

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.
    • Must provide proof of COVID vaccination Flu vaccination during flu season, or, as an alternative, appropriate documentation that will support either a medical or religious exemption.

    Compensation:

    Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

    Salary range: $50,000 - $63,000
