Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Biomedical Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Biomedical Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Role


    The Product Engineering Director position requires a strong leader capable of balancing efficient productivity with superior quality.  This leader will confer with management on product design in concert with production, planning, and marketing staff.  The Director leads discussions on project specifications and procedures, while coordinating new project launches.  This position will research the usage of new technology and resources to support product launches, while planning and assessing the feasibility of projects.  This leader will also have the opportunity to direct, review, and approve product design and changes, in addition to recruiting employees and leading the engineering team!


    The Perks

    • Annual Compensation:  $130,000 to $160,000
    • Incentive Bonus: Up to 22% of base salary based off of employee performance and company KPIs.

    Requirements

    The Product Engineering Director's responsibilities include:

    • Leading the development, evaluation and improvements of new product design and product methods.
    • Solving complex process design and development problems for machining, grinding, special processes, assembly, and test operations.
    • Designing and modifying tooling and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.
    • Implementing lean tools for measurement, management decisions, quoting, and to maximize product potential.
    • Conferring with management, engineering, and other staff regarding product capabilities, production schedules, and considerations to facilitate production processes.
    • Analyzing and planning work force utilization.
    • Creating, maintaining, and fostering a highly motivated work environment which includes leading new product design engineers and emphasizing teamwork within a cross functional organization.
    • Executing production work to meet customer requirements and deadlines while remaining committed to quality.
    • Developing cost structures for new development projects and part changes.

    Supervisory Responsibilities - Supervises product and process engineers.


    Qualifications

    • Due to ITAR regulations, must be a U.S. Person.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
    • BSME or similar educational background with course work in Automation
    • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in Product or Process Engineering role is required.  5-15 years' experience preferred.
    • Aerospace experience required.
    • FAA and government contract experience preferred.
    • Experience preferred in machining, grinding, special processes, assembly, and test environment, with excellent problem-solving. 
    • Working knowledge of Lean Product/Six Sigma preferred.
    • Ability to design and modify fixturing and tooling preferred.
    • Working knowledge of quality systems preferred.
    • Proficiency with NX CAD or ESPRIT CAM software is a plus.

    Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability


    Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, technical documents, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practice problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.


    Computer Skills


    Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project. Experience in Microsoft D365 system highly desirable.


    Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and is primarily an office environment with occasional manufacturing environment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
