Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Position Summary:
This position performs preventive maintenance on generic, complex, and designated clinical equipment, and performs corrective action on all clinical equipment located in designated specialized areas such as advanced biomed, telephony, imaging, pneumatics, and computer applications. This is the senior-level position working under limited supervision. Work situations are a combination of routine and varied functions which require excellent technical skill in the area of bio-medical engineering, problem solving, and decision making.
Minimum Requirements:
Six years experience in a hospital or clinical setting. Extensive training on systems in designated area. Completion of course or schooling on specific equipment in designated area.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Two years vocational or college training in Biomedical Electronics Technology, or four years recent experience in electronics.
Compensation Range:
BA - Min: $38.35-Max: $63.38
