Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Our field and laboratory technicians and inspectors are trained and certified to a variety of standards including ACI, CWI, NICET, etc.

    Position Description:

    Encorus Group is looking for an Engineering Technician to work under the direct supervision of our Civil Materials Testing Manager and will be responsible for the testing and inspection of construction materials, such as concrete, soils, asphalt, masonry, etc. for the quality requirements on construction related projects and in the accredited laboratory.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for testing physical properties of materials like concrete, soil and asphalt.
    • Examine test samples, read blueprints, schematics, measuring instruments, and operational instructions.
    • Evaluates and reviews test and construction data with supervisor reporting data to engineers and other laboratory personnel.
    • Builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.
    • Collects samples of soils and construction materials in the field to measure physical characteristics; may be required to collect and test materials in a laboratory environment.
    • Performs a variety of tests on construction materials including soils, reinforcing steel, sand, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and other mixes, cement-treated bases, and other materials, using sophisticated materials-testing equipment.
    • Inspects the operations of asphalt and concrete batch plants; checks equipment, weights, temperatures and materials for compliance with specifications; tests and calculates aggregate gradings for field mix design.
    • Record and reports test results after performing mathematical calculations, making graphical solutions and graphical representations.
    • Uses a computer to write memos, complex operational and inspection reports, and letters; to communicate with others via e-mail (Microsoft Outlook); and to perform computer file management when storing and retrieving information related to documentation of inspections, sampling and testing activities and results.
    • CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

    Candidate shall possess or have the capability to possess certifications from the American Concrete Institute, NICET, ICC & AWS.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • 0 - 5 years of experience in Civil Materials Construction Field or a related field.
    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Obtain and keep certifications current, as directed by Encorus Group.
    • Maintains a valid driver license and is able to drive a motor vehicle in the course of collecting samples, performing field tests and conducting inspections.
