Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Design, build, and test protypes to validate performance versus requirements
    • Knowledge of circuit board layout and ability to perform the following:
      • Circuit board assembly
      • Reflow soldering
      • Hand soldering
      • Troubleshooting
      • Device assembly
    • Generate electrical assembly documentation (BOMs, Gerbers, schematics, etc.)
    • Write test procedures, test reports, and validation reports
    • Collaborate and openly communicate with team members in all departments
    • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing
    • Evaluate field returns
    • Electro-mechanical assembly
    • Deliver clean, well-tested code and meet project deadlines.
    • Estimates, organizes, and documents tasks.

    Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • DesElectrign experience with embedded microcontrollers with analog and digital circuit design
    • Familiarity with design simulators (i.e., SPICE) a PLUS
    • Knowledge with FDA and CE Mark medical device design regulation
    • Developing firmware and software for embedded microcontrollers a PLUS
    • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Understanding of quality systems:
      • ISO 13485 - Medical Devices - Quality Management Systems

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
    • 3 years' experience preferably in a product development environment
    • Basic knowledge of mobile application software development on iOS or Android platforms.
