Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Biomedical Equipment Technician

  • StayWell Health Center is looking for an effective, motivated Biomedical Equipment Technician who is able to work in a fast-paced, multi-site medical practice.

    Under general supervision with latitude for independent initiative, the successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, calibrating, testing, and repairing medical equipment utilizing a variety of tools and computer applications. This employee performs other non-clinical functions as required in support of all departments at StayWell Health Center, under the supervision of the Medical and Behavioral Health Clinical Operations Director.

    Some of the responsibilities of this Biomedical Equipment Technician position include:

    • Perform scheduled maintenance inspections and performance assurance inspections on equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions
    • Test and calibrate components using a variety of manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and code requirements
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies
    • Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
    • Repair and replace complex biomedical equipment and systems
    • Install and adjust a variety of biomedical and research equipment
    • Diagnose equipment malfunctions with accuracy and precision

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Applied Sciences, or related field or equivalent experience and training
    • 3-5 years’ relevant experience working with biomedical equipment
    • CBET certification preferred
    • Unrestricted, valid Connecticut driver’s license, reliable vehicle, current motor vehicle insurance according to legal specifications, and qualified driving record required
    • Required to work at any site within StayWell as needs arise

    Employee is required to be free and clear of signs and symptoms or evidence of communicable diseases that could be expected to be transmitted during the course of normal scheduled work activity at medical, dental, and behavioral health center. Receipt of current completed Fitness for Duty Certification required including specific immunizations and appropriate frequency as determined by Regulatory Agencies confirming employee has been found to be in adequate mental and physical health and capable of performing their position title.

    Pay: $22.50 - $27.00 per hour
