Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Essential Functions:

    - Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws

    - Performs & documents scheduled inspections & electrical safety tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements

    - Performs & documents biomedical equipment repairs & tests all new & repaired biomedical equipment before it is put into service

    - Documents the performance of tests & other scheduled maintenance on biomedical equipment in accordance w/ code requirements

    - Modifies biomedical equipment or makes system changes

    - Reviews work performed by outside service vendors to ensure defined specifications are met & results are properly documented

    - Maintains an inventory of the medical center's biomedical equipment, replacement parts & standby equipment necessary to minimize disruption of patient care

    - Investigates reported incidents involving biomedical equipment to determine source & to recommend remedial action

    - Assists in training medical, nursing & paramedical staff in the safe use of biomedical equipment

    - Performs other related duties as required

    - Promotes, ensures & improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organization's philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations & quality service

    - Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed
