Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is anticipating openings in the Specialist Series throughout the academic year 2023-24. These positions offer a stimulating array of research and training opportunities within the various labs in the department.
Seeking qualified candidates with experience in the following biomedical engineering fields:
Biomedical photonics/optoelectronics
Biomedical nano- and microscale systems/fabrication
Biomedical computation/modeling
These positions require a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or biology and experience in the focus research area(s) listed above.
This is an ongoing recruitment and positions are dependent upon availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are short-term and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
