Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Equipment Technician II performs operational and safety testing, maintenance and repairs on patient care equipment.
Responsibilities Include: Technical inspections of new, used or reconditioned medical equipment, repair of damaged medical equipment, and Overhaul of medical equipment.
Required Skills:
Use of authorized Army Automated Systems including, but not limited to, the Defense Medical Logistics Shared Standard Support (DMLSS), the Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS-E), Theatre Enterprise-Wide Logistics System (TEWLS), Global Combat Support System Army (GCSS-A), and other systems specifically authorized by the USAMMA M3D.
Must complete maintenance actions within a reasonable performance time. Maintenance actions include, but are not limited to technical inspections, repair, calibrations/PMCS, and overhaul of medical equipment.
Successful Candidate Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years BMET Experience is required. One year of clinical experience is required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
Familiarity with the Biomedical field and its’ concepts, practices and procedures.
Work Conditions and Special Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. at a time, the ability to push/pull equipment to and from carts, and the ability to kneel, stand, bend, and reach during equipment repair/maintenance.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently as required.
Salary Range:
· $ 34.62 -$ 37.02 per hour
· $ 72,000.00 - $ 77,000.00 Annualized
