Biomedical Photographer performs wide variety of photographic functions in a medical setting. Takes photographs and prepares images, slides, or prints of subjects used for archives, educational materials, legal proceedings, and scientific literature. Being a Biomedical Photographer photographs patients, operating room procedures, autopsy and laboratory specimens and other medical subjects. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Biomedical Photographer may require a technical certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Photographer works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Role and Responsibilities

    · Collecting and recording data in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

    · Performing animal husbandry duties (clean, feed, care and water)

    · Performing observations/assessments

    · Preparation of animals for surgery

    · Administering substances to animals

    · Euthanizing animals and collecting tissues

    · Basic vivarium maintenance

    · Data Review

    · Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends; sometimes on short notice

    · All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    · HS/GED/BS or equivalent in animal or life science related discipline.

    · Experience: 6 months preferred

    · Certification: ALAT preferred

    Preferred Skills

    · Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications. Ability to learn and use additional applications.

    · Good written and oral communication skills, both inside and outside the organization.

    Physical Requirements

    · Individuals will be working in both an office and vivarium setting.

    · Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and stairs. Spend the majority of the day standing and/or walking.

    · Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including respirators.

    Work Environment

    · The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.

    Additional Notes

    · Ability to handle common laboratory species

    · Basic understanding of study design and protocols

    · Knowledge of GLPs and other federal regulations relating to care of laboratory animals

    · Basic understanding of laboratory operations and data collection

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
