Biostatistician conducts statistical studies to generate data and insights used to innovate, plan and support improved healthcare outcomes and processes. Prepares analysis plans to ensure the best statistical methods are developed and utilized. Being a Biostatistician writes specifications for files, consistency checks, tables, and calculations used to collect and analyzes data from a variety of sources. Interprets analyses and prepares exhibits for reports and presentations. Additionally, Biostatistician interfaces with non technical users to assist with data interpretation and understanding of results. Proficient with statistical computer applications like SAS and R. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biostatistician occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Description

    The Biostatistician provides guidance with study design, determination of appropriate study sample size, data collection, and ultimate statistical methods and analyses of data. Together with researchers, biostatisticians collect and examine data that will provide relevant conclusions about critical medical queries.

    • Participates in examining the performance of assigned project staff. Maps out, develops and supervises timelines for statistical and data management activities in agreement with clinical and medical requirements for the assigned project.
    • Conducts reviews for clinical study procedures, and statistical and data management documents made by others, contributes to the training and progress of new biostatisticians, spearheads efforts in the progress, maintains and observes therapeutic area standards.
    • Offers data and statistical management input into process development.
    • Writes Statistical Analysis Plans for assigned projects.
    • Supervises the progress of Data Management Plans for specific projects.
    • Offers statistical contribution into case report form design for specific projects, and supervises the endeavors in certification, enhancement, and examination of the research database.
    • Plans and executes professional development, and provides expertise and leadership in solving complicated problems and upholding company goals.
    • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree required; Masters of Ph.D. preferred
    • One to Two years of clinical research experience required; Three to Five years of clinical research experience preferred.
    • Comprehensive background in science, math, and in (bio) statistics. Gathering and summarizing of data from medical testing's; and the interpretation of, and inference from the outcomes.
    • Statistical computer applications like SAS, MS, Windows applications, and experience with the creation and design of clinical studies.
