    Description
    The Kentucky Office of Bar Admissions is seeking an Application Analyst to assist in the administration of the Kentucky Bar Examination twice annually and process admissions applications for prospective attorneys. Excellent computer skills and communication skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Some experience with Microsoft Excel and Teams/Zoom platforms preferred, but not required.

    The Kentucky Office of Bar Admissions is an arm of the Kentucky Supreme Court and is responsible for administering the bar examination and determining eligibility of all candidates seeking admission to practice law in Kentucky. The office includes the Board of Bar Examiners and Character and Fitness Committee. The office is located at 1510 Newtown Pike, Suite 156, Lexington, KY.

    Characteristics of the Job:
    • Responsible for processing attorney applications for admissions to the Kentucky Bar.
    • Assist with administration of the Kentucky Bar Examination twice annually.
    • Responds to requests from National Conference of Bar Examiners to verify application/admission info of prior Kentucky bar applicants.
    • Work closely with Deputy Director on day-to-day operations.
    • Assist Deputy Director with Nonstandard testing arrangements for the Nonstandard testing applicants.
    Examples Of Duties or Responsibilities of This Classification:
    • Processing requests from National Conference of Bar Examiners to verify application/admission info of Kentucky applicants.
    • Assist with administration of the Kentucky Bar Examination twice annually.
    • Work closely with Deputy Director on day-to-day operations.
    • Processing attorney applications for admissions to the Kentucky Bar.
    • Assisting with release of bar exam results.
    • Drafting letters and emails to applicants.
    • Maintain spreadsheet of bar applicant interviews.
    • Communicate with Character and Fitness Committee members by email, schedule Zoom interviews for members.
    • Maintain approval list for law students approved for admission under SCR 2.540.
    • Maintain approval list for provisional attorney licenses under SCR 2.116 & 2.117.
    • Responsible for revisions and mailing of Exam Instruction Manual to bar applicants.
    • Responsible for revisions and mailing of Proctor Training Manual.
    • Responsible for inputting MPRE scores for all bar applicants.
    • Process and maintain all applications for Limited Practice (prosecutor/public defender applications under SCR 2.111).
    • Answer email inquiries and/or redirect to other staff if necessary.
    • Answer incoming calls to KYOBA and/or redirect to other staff if necessary.
    • Maintain inventory and order of all office supplies & exam supplies.
    • Open and distribute mail.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Working Conditions
    Some travel is required. Strong communication, writing and computer skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Teams/Zoom preferred but not required. Work is typically performed in an office, studio, and off-site locations Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and photography components. Ability to lift, bend and stoop as needed and move large files/banker boxes of documents.
