Being a Board Administrator works closely with board members and committees to achieve organizational goals. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Board Administrator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Board Administrator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Job Overview:
    As a Board Administrator you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating a variety of administrative support functions for the Board of Directors and related committees, Metropolitan staff, member agencies, and the general public. You will accomplish this through supervision of staff; overseeing and coordinating all meetings of the Board of Directors which include staff activities and various Metropolitan issues to ensure that all Board of Director’s meetings are conducted in accordance with internal policies and parliamentary procedures; directing the preparation of the agenda for monthly Board of Directors meetings, and similar agendas for standing committees, special committees, and ad hoc committees of the Board of Directors to ensure timely and efficient operations of all Board-related activities; attending Board and assigned committee meetings; prepares and types Board and committee meeting minutes; reviews all minutes for committees before distribution to Board of Directors; and providing administrative support for Directors.

    In this role you will also oversee the Board Letter process including tracking letters, presentations, and reports within Metropolitan’s system; and develops, revises, and implements related processes and procedures to ensure the process runs efficiently. You will also coordinate with Information Technology staff on Board and committee days to ensure that all audio/visual and other technology used in the meetings is working correctly and ready to be used prior to the start of the meetings.

    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which two years must have been in a project management, lead, or supervisory capacity.

    Relevant Experience
    is defined as experience in coordinating, organizing, and managing meetings which may include, leading and preparing for meetings in a public forum; board meetings, council meetings, and/or commission meetings.

    This classification performs work that requires maintaining confidentiality and is routinely privy to matters that either involves confidential information, sensitive personnel issues, or exposure to confidential and sensitive strategic corporate information.

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
    License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
