Bookkeeper maintains and records a complete and systematic set of business transactions. Balances ledgers, reconciles accounts, and prepares reports to show receipts, expenditures, accounts receivable, and payable. Being a Bookkeeper follows bookkeeping procedures established by the organization. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Additionally, Bookkeeper typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Bookkeeper works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Under the general direction of the Owner, the bookkeeper handles the accounts payable and receivable process for Bay to Beach Builders, Inc. in the office. This includes processing invoices, purchase orders, and distribution of checks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains checking account balance.
Process all construction bank draws and make timely deposits and recordation of same. Responsible for the follow-up and collection of post-closing accounts receivable.
Reconciles all assigned credit card accounts including any "hand checking" petty cash accounts.
Process invoices and approved purchase orders for payment in a timely fashion each check processing date.
Makes and records deposits on a weekly basis
Follows internal accounting controls to ensure professional and secure handling of company finances.
Assist Owner with computer closing process for jobs closed during the month as part of the end of month procedures.
Prepare check run for approval, print, and distribute checks to all payees each pay date.
Runs back-office computer system, reports to assist Director of Production, Production Manager, and Jobsite Superintendents in their assigned duties.
Requests, follows up and processes (deposits) draw requests from clients.
Maintain the Customer Draws and Deposit account for each customer.
Perform special projects as assigned by Owner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Capable of communicating and projecting the "we care" attitude to all customers and employees through all forms of communication (writing, verbal, appearance). Ability to pay close attention to detail, be thorough and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently, think creatively and have initiative.
Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
Willingness to handle accounts receivable collections when necessary.
