Bookkeeping firm specializing in bookkeeping, payroll, and individual and business tax preparation, seeking an experienced tax manager. This is a hybrid position that requires 2 days in our Longmont office a week.
Job Summary:
Providing employees with guidance, direction, leadership and support, and organizing the production of work and employee workflow. Consulting with clients and handling issues as they arise. Accurately processing of tax returns for businesses and individuals; ensure legal requirements compliance. Responsible for confidential and time sensitive material. Ability to effectively communicate in person, via phone and email with clients. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to upper management.
Responsibilities:
Provide employees with guidance, direction, leadership and support
Follow up on tax returns in progress
Organize production of work and employee workflow
Review employees work and provide constructive feedback
Develop procedures and policies
Prepare Year End and Semi-Annual reviews bookkeeping clients
Prepares income tax return forms for businesses and individuals. (1040, 1120S, 1065, 990, 1120 Forms)
Reviews various financial records like income statements, receipts of expenditures and previous tax returns to determine a strategy for preparing current returns.
Consult with clients to get information on deductible expenses, allowances and taxable income.
Uses tax form instructions and software to make proper entries on the tax form and compute the amount of taxes an individual or business owes.
Prepare estimated tax payments for clients
Consults tax resources and law books to obtain assistance with atypical returns.
Verifies forms that individuals prepared themselves to check for errors or miscalculations.
Calculates proper fee to charge each customer for tax preparation services based on the complexity of each form and the amount of time required for the work.
Takes continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on changes in federal and state tax codes.
Contact state and federal agencies to resolve tax client notices and issues.
Help with bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax clients as needed during slow season.

2 Years Management experience
3 plus years of experience with forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 990
2-3 years Quickbooks Desktop and Online experience
Proficient with Excel and Google Docs
Associates or Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Sales Tax experience plus
EA or CPA Credentials preferred
Payroll Preparation Experience preferred
Experience with Intuit Proseries preferred
Sales Tax experience preferred
