Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. directs and oversees all activities related to the operation of a university/college bookstore. Purchases new books, coordinates the sale of used books, orders new inventory as needed. Additionally, Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. prepares and manages the staff work schedule so that the store is adequately staffed. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.   • Position Summary: Job Description: BOOKSTORE MANAGER Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Bookstore Manager. The position reports to the AVP of Campus Operations and Construction and works closely with the faculty and students. This is a full-time, on campus position. Responsibilities: The Bookstore Manager is responsible for directing operations, planning and administrating all bookstore activities. Accountable for taking book orders from faculty, product purchasing, receiving, pricing, accounts payable and daily deposits. In charge of book buyback, the graduation fair and student regalia, product promotions, displays, marketing, textbooks sales (physical and digital), textbook rentals, football game day events, and web sales. Operates a Point of Sale System (POS) and conducts annual inventory. Supervises up to 16 student workers, 4 temp workers and 1 full-time employee. Minimum Qualifications: The Bookstore Manager will have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree. Three years prior experience in business management, purchasing, retail operations, customer service, social media marketing, and website administration. Preferred Qualifications: University bookstore experience, including but not limited to coordinating campus textbook purchasing, rental, e-book, returns and buy back. Experience with purchasing and sales of imprinted merchandise. Five years prior applicable experience. Compensation: $58,000 - $65,000 FLSA Exempt. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
