SR PROJECT MANAGER

  • Position Summary

    Branch Civil is searching for an experienced, detail-oriented and organized Senior Project Manager to join our well-established, growing company. This position works closely with the project superintendent to ensure overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of assigned projects. Oversees or participates in the allocation of resources to ensure a safe, timely, and quality project while meeting all project goals. The Senior PM is the primary contact with Owner's representative(s), Subcontractors, Suppliers and other company departments / personnel and pursues exemplary business relationships with same. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

    Duties/Responsibilities
    • Authority on contract between the owner, GC, etc. and the Company to ensure effective project administration
    • Responsible for all aspects of the project's contract management, planning, scheduling, budget, quality, safety, and employee development
    • Responsible for profit margins and fully manages all financial aspects of assigned construction project(s)
    • Collaboratively aids in the timely drafting and execution of subcontracts and purchase orders
    • Reviews and approves monthly subcontractor pay requisitions
    • Oversees schedule development and updates in conjunction with the project staff
    • Oversees preparation of monthly project financial projections and reports to the appropriate Company executive leadership members
    • Prepares and reviews payment requisitions, communicates changes, and reports projects financial status monthly
    • Develops an effective plan and schedule in conjunction with the Superintendent for constructing the project and helps determine the means and methods necessary to meet project goals
    • Supports preconstruction activities including design-build procurement
    • Develops new business opportunities relative to a client or group of clients and fosters positive owner relationships
    • Adheres to the terms of the contract, assures quality, minimizes costs, and promotes safety

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
    • 10-15 years of Project Management experience (Project Engineer experience does not count) in heavy highway and civil site work including individual projects over $50M
    • Must have DOT experience. Government experience is acceptable if balanced with industry experience.
    • Experience using P6 scheduling software, MRS Project, Vista; MS Office and Procore
    • Must have PM experience running multiple projects at one time
    • Has multiple managed highway/site projects

    Within the Northern Virginia Region. This position requires frequent field visits, 50% field and 50% office or as necessary.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Directly supervises three to eight employees and consultants involved in each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40 hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
