HERS Breast Cancer Foundation
JOB TITLE: Breast Care Specialist (BCS) – F/T or P/T Position
LOCATION: Fremont, California
SUMMARY:
This position is a unique opportunity to support post-surgical breast cancer patients.
Our nonprofit has 25 years of experience supporting Bay Area breast cancer patients by providing an array of post-surgical products that facilitate both physical and emotional healing. Products include breast prosthetics, pocketed bras, compression garments, and wigs. Our assistance programs ensure that under-served patients have access to these products. We support our work via sales, foundation grants, donations, and fundraising events.
Beyond providing products, our compassionate staff offers emotional support and strives to provide for our patients what the "HERS" in our name represents: Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support. It is our goal to help patients feel understood and for HERS to be their "soft place to fall" during one of the hardest times of their lives.
One of the most important roles at HERS is that of Breast Care Specialist -- our team members who provide direct patient services. They are tasked with a unique and very fulfilling job: providing patient assessments, creating and implementing patient treatment plans, and plan management.
HERS provides training on the job. Once the Breast Care Specialist completes 120 hours of training, they will take a one-day training course and then complete a certification test. Once these steps are successfully completed, they will achieve their CFm (Certified Mastectomy Fitter) title. Our Foundation covers the cost of the training course, the certification test, and the annual renewal fee.
This position is a wonderful opportunity to provide direct patient services as well as the emotional support patients needs as they face breast cancer. The ideal candidate should approach each patient as an individual and convey a calm demeanor, patience, and compassion.
Given the diversity of our patient population, bilingual and multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
