Minimum Qualifications :
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in the area of Elementary Education. Middle School subject area endorsement(s) preferred.
Knowledge of and proficiency with technology and commitment to the unique role it plays in the educational arena of the 21st Century.
Understanding of literacy acquisition and the use of a balanced literacy approach to deliver language arts instruction
Demonstrated ability to promote positive social skills, mental health, and personal growth for students at the elementary age level.
Willingness to work with colleagues as an active member of a professional learning community.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff, children and families.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Create standards based weekly plans, related to curriculum standards, with clear objectives for upcoming instructional period : then modify, as needed, based on feedback gained through implementation and evaluation process.
Use data to inform decision-making concerning instructional goals and to create, monitor and implement student learning plans.
Develop and implement an appropriate classroom management system including classroom routines and orderly transition strategies for students.
Help students in developing self-confidence and a positive self-image by building relationships and providing an environment of acceptance and support for each student.
Provide students with teacher modeling, guided practice and scaffolding and support that allows students move toward demonstrating skills and competencies independently.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of subject matter and integrate technology to support student learning.
Provide rigorous learning activities that actively engage students in learning tasks that align to curriculum goals and support the use of inquiry and higher order questions and probes to elicit student responses at various cognitive levels.
Provide for varied levels of student performance including multi-level teaching and accommodations, when appropriate.
Maintain accurate records.
Actively participate in all professional learning opportunities and implement new strategies and skills into the daily routine.
Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills. Creates a responsive and productive working relationship with parents, children, teachers, other staff and the local community by remaining accessible, behaving professionally, and communicating clearly and concisely.
