Responsibilities:
Serve as representatives of Western Illinois University Office of Financial Aid. At this level a Client Relations Representative will interface with University clients (students, parents, high school counselors, college and financial aid advisers/coordinators/managers) in order to maintain, promote, and monitor participation in student financial aid programs.
- Client Services
- Directs calls, visitors, or emails to university wide resources as appropriate (i.e. billing, scholarship, student employment, housing, etc.).
- Explains the information on a Financial Aid Award letter, loan process, and status of application, disbursement procedure, satisfactory progress requirements and appeal process, cost of attendance, and out-of-pocket expenses, the availability of jobs, loans, and scholarships.
- Interviews applicants, parents, and other interested persons regarding need for and participation in student financial aid programs.
- Prepares and distributes complex correspondence, training and promotional materials as it relates to the application of financial aid including educational loans.
- Assists in or individually determines an applicant's basic eligibility for available financial aid.
- Interprets complex personal situations and suggests further review by the Financial Aid department as appropriate (i.e. Income Appeal/cost of attendance adjustment/satisfactory academic progress appeal, etc.).
- Office Services
- Receives, reviews, and distributes all incoming correspondence.
- Performs outreach activities upon the request of appropriate personnel for purposes of completing application for financial aid (i.e. verification, satisfactory academic progress, etc.).
- Program Services
- Assists in the review of all forms received and preparing necessary forms including assisting with the completion of the online financial aid application (FAFSA) process.
- Assists with data retrieval and intake to a student's permanent record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in advisory committees and training workshops.
- Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent;
Valid Illinois driver's license;
Three years of responsible business experience in customer service, marketing, public relations, or other related business experience requiring public contact
OR
Credit for 120 semester hours of college training, 48 of which were in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, psychology, education, or other fields involving public/social relations (or a Bachelor's degree in such fields)
OR
any combination of the above computed on a proportional basis

Starting Salary: $16.197/hour
