Budget Director directs and controls an organization's budgeting and financial forecasting activities. Leads the budgeting process for annual, quarterly, and monthly budget development. Being a Budget Director develops budgetary policies and guidelines to meet short and long-term financial goals. Establishes processes to incorporate past financial results into budget development. Additionally, Budget Director monitors and analyzes performance against budgets. Develops and implements tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. Presents budget data to senior management and/or board. May require a MBA. Typically reports to top management. The Budget Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Budget Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.       Primary Function: Oversees all aspects of the Federal Programs budgeting and accounting functions for the school district. Assist departments and schools in the development of Federal Program budgets.
      Requirements:
      Educational Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
      Certification/Licensing: None
      Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to perform work independently and perform work that requires meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

      GENERAL
      1. Assists in the development and preparation of system level budgets for all Federal Programs.
      2. Performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
      3. Prepares monthly financial reports reflecting the status of Federal Program budgets.
      4. Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
      5. Prepares reports and compiles budgetary information to ensure proper disbursement of funds.
      6. Performs various accounting activities maintaining complete and systematic sets of records which provide needed financial information as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
      7. Works with and assists system-level fiscal personnel in the implementation and maintenance of Federal Program budgets.
      8. Supports school-level personnel responsible for budget development, implementation and maintenance.
      9. Monitors expenditures in budgets for Federal Program components and grants to determine budget modifications where/when needed.
      10. Assists in preparation of consolidated application components; including Title I components, such as comparability report, Title personnel, and contractual services/special projects.
      11. Works collaboratively with other support personnel in the office to establish efficient and accurate delivery of service.
      12. Assures that state and local mandates, regulations and other requirements relating to fiscal matters are met in the budget process.
      13. Manages use of funds and adherence to budget and grant allocations and revisions according to budget implementation.
      14. Promptly notifies administrators and/or supervisor of significant budget variances according to established guidelines.
      15. Thoroughly reviews all requests to determine availability of funds.
      16. Revises, as necessary, organizes project and fund source structure to efficiently track expenses.
      17. Participates in workshops and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job
      18. Accepts constructive criticism and follows up on administrative actions for improving performance.
      19. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Number of annual absences to date:
      20. Completes reports, documentation, duties and other assignments in a prompt and professional manner.

      30. Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities.
      31. Maintains all documentation required for state, federal, and local audits and reviews.
      32. Prepares invoices for reimbursement of expenditures.
      33. Assists in training school-level clerical support in appropriate Federal Programs fiscal procedures.
