The Budget and Finance Deputy Director is a supervisory/managerial position accountable for overseeing the work of professional-level accounting staff. This position participates in budget preparation and attends legislative budget hearings, as needed. The Deputy Director position reconciles complex accounts, reviews reports and statements, analyzes financial reports, and determines priorities and implementation of work processes. You will help to troubleshoot issues within Commission programs and provide oversight in reporting of accounting personnel within the Commission.

Annual Salary Range:
$72,000 - $77,000
Pay commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 4-6 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification
• Substitutions may be allowed

Job Description Summary:

• Supervise and serve as rater of performance evaluations of accounting staff and recommend professional development opportunities
• Coordinate activities of accounting personnel in Commission-wide programs for a variety of accounts and funds
• Respond to budget and accounting questions from program staff
• Assist in budget preparation and attend legislative budget hearings on behalf of MVC
• Provide support and assume responsibility of the program in the absence of the Budget and Finance Director
• Review complex, special, and periodic financial reports reflecting expenditures, receipts, obligations, and state financial participation in federally funded programs
• Periodically review/audit expenditures approved within the Homes Program
• Assist in continuous control and audit of state and/or federal accounts to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines, rules, and regulations
• Assist in the development of new systems and procedures for the accounting unit operation
• Approve journal vouchers submitted by accounting personnel and verify the appropriateness of the adjustments and the accounts involved
• Complete fixed asset reconciliations in the accounting system for Commission programs and coordinate the necessary adjustments with the appropriate accounting personnel.
• Confer with Budget and Finance Director on matters pertaining to allotments, appropriations, grant reimbursements, and audit requirements
• Perform other related work as assigned
