Budget Director directs and controls an organization's budgeting and financial forecasting activities. Leads the budgeting process for annual, quarterly, and monthly budget development. Being a Budget Director develops budgetary policies and guidelines to meet short and long-term financial goals. Establishes processes to incorporate past financial results into budget development. Additionally, Budget Director monitors and analyzes performance against budgets. Develops and implements tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. Presents budget data to senior management and/or board. May require a MBA. Typically reports to top management. The Budget Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Budget Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. The ideal candidate for this full-time regular position will have strong financial management, project coordination, communication, and organizational skills. Under the direction of the AVP of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will be responsible for coordinating the development of the University’s base operating budget. This position will also be responsible for projecting net tuition revenue, identifying Key Budget Performance Indicators and teaming with the FP&A team and constituents to build reliable forecasting and analytical models.
The Budget Development & Financial Planning Director, along with the Budget Team, will work with all Center Managers and Directors of Operations in developing, implementing, updating, and reviewing annual and multi-year budgets. You will assist in the development and maintenance of budget reports through the University’s various reporting mechanisms. You will also take ownership of our budgeting tool (Prophix).
