Occupational Summary:
Plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; perform complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; perform lead role in budget system administration and in coordinating complex projects.
Duties:
Manage the preparation of annual operating budget for CAMC departments, ensuring that staff review for accuracy and compliance within university guidelines.
Manage the financial analysis of and generation of reports for CAMC departments, identifying to senior management areas of strategic opportunities and risks, alternatives, and contingencies.
Assist Director, Budgets and Analysis with coordinating the preparation of Duke University's annual and quarterly financial reports for senior management and Board of Trustee review.
Maintain liaison with business unit financial managers to advise units regarding financial position, cash flows, accounts, budgets, budget requests and related financial
matters.
Facilitate year-end close process for CAMC departments, ensuring staff review transactions for accuracy and compliance within university guidelines, communicating significant operating budget variances to the Director for appropriate action.
Assist in the implementation and management of financial systems and processes, and financial policies and procedures as appropriate
Perform other special projects and related duties incidental to the work described herein
Recommend various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers; develop and mentor staff.

Qualifications:
Education/Training
Responsibilities require a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
Position requires the ability to review, analyze, and manage financial data of a complex and varied nature, generally acquired through six years of experience in accounting/financial management in a university environment
Skills
Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with a broad range of University personnel; excellent analytical and problem solving skills; strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP (including Business Warehouse)
Work requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related business field. CPA preferred.
Work requires a minimum of six years experience in financial management, OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE cost accounting, or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment.
