Part-Time Local Building Inspector for the Town of New Salem. This is a salaried, non-benefited, part-time position. Applicant must meet the minimum requirements of M.G.L. Chapter 143 § 3, which includes a minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervision of the State Building Code in building construction or design, or any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability, as determined by the board. General knowledge of the accepted requirements for building construction, fire prevention, light, ventilation and safe egress as well as a general knowledge of other equipment and materials essential for safety, comfort and convenience of the occupants of a building or structure. Yearly salary: $12,000 depending on experience.
The building inspector shall be responsible for enforcing the state building code as well as being the Zoning Enforcement Officer for the Town.
