The Town of Gorham is currently seeking qualified applicants to serve as Building Inspector. This is a full-time (38 hours) long-term temporary benefits-eligible role that is expected to last several months with the potential to become permanent within 1 year.
The Building Inspector is a responsible technical position that inspects residential and commercial construction and administers State and local codes. Performs construction plan review and inspects construction work following established procedures to ensure conformance with State and local building and land use codes, including septic systems, plumbing, and electrical connections. Maintains records, assists customers, and resolves complaints in the absence of the Code Enforcement Officers. Works closely with the Town Planner, Fire Department personnel, and other staff to coordinate the Town’s development activities. The Building Inspector reports to the Director of Community Development. Work is performed independently with general guidance from the Code Enforcement Officers and in collaboration with other Community Development Department staff. The schedule is 7AM-5PM Monday through Thursday.
