Building Inspector, Sr. inspects initial construction and additional repairs to ensure adherence to contract specifications, building ordinances, and zoning laws. May be assigned to residential or commercial structures. Being a Building Inspector, Sr. may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. About this position:
Responsible for the administration, enforcement and implementation of various Wicomico County Codes including, but not limited to the International Code Council’s Building, Energy, and Residential Codes. This position has direct responsibility for supervising and managing the Building Permits and Inspection Division’s work program and assists with resolving complex problems. Other duties, include, but are not limited to the following activities:
Qualifications:
High School diploma and five to seven years of relevant experience to successfully perform the job. Computer proficiency using spreadsheets, database, and Microsoft software. Experience using MUNIS is highly desirable. Position requires a valid driver’s license, as well as possession or ability to obtain the following certifications within one-year of employment: Residential Inspector and Plans Examiner; Commercial Inspector and Plans Examiner; and the Energy Conservation Code Inspector and Plans Examiner. Also, demonstrated ability to compose various correspondence is required.
