Building and Grounds Supervisor - Wheeling High School
The
Buildings and Grounds Supervisor works cooperatively with the Director of Operations, Assistant Director of Operations and School Administration while exercising direct control and responsibility for the cleanliness, maintenance, repair, and security of the building and grounds.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Review all work orders received and establish priorities for the quick and efficient accomplishment of all such work.
- Assign specific job functions to staff and supervise completion of the assignment.
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of all work performed by staff and all others to whom work has been assigned or contracted within the area of school properties.
- Initiate requisitions for supplies and equipment with the approval of the Associate Principal and District Administration.
- Provide assistance as required to maintenance personnel working within the building.
- Monitor and reinforce all fire and safety regulations to ensure that the building and properties are protected from fire and hazards.
- Ensure that weekly time reporting is properly completed by employee and submitted properly.
- Responsible for posting overtime opportunities following the guidelines in the bargaining agreement.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual building and grounds budget.
- Actively support and establish a suitable training program for all assigned personnel.
- On call 24 hours a day in case of building emergency.
- Prepare a performance evaluation for each person under his/her supervision.
- Participate in special assignment and projects as required by the Building or District Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma supplemented by a combination of additional education, training, and experience, including supervisory experience preferred.
- The Association of Facility Engineers (AFE) Certified Professional Maintenance Management and Certified Professional Supervision accreditation preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience and knowledge of building custodial and maintenance operations.
- Understanding of operation of building and grounds equipment, including HVAC systems
- Demonstrated ability to handle administrative responsibility.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students and public, as well as exhibit patience and understanding with students.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, and directing.
- Demonstrated skill in employee supervision and preparation of written employee evaluations.
- Knowledge of computer applications for budgeting, preventative maintenance and energy management systems.
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Full-Year Assignment
MINIMUM SALARY: Supervisory Grade 5 Range starting at $95,391; plus excellent benefits package
