Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. DEFINITION: The ability to work independently and in a team environment in building maintenance. Performs repairs and modifications of the interior and exteriors of City structures including plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. Supervision of custodial staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS.
Standing/Walking primarily on concrete floors. Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. while climbing ladder. Must be able to lift or carry up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 50lbs. Must be able to handle all the tools necessary to complete tasks assigned, bending, twisting, and reaching overhead. Climb ladders up to 12 ft.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDES:
Must have working knowledge of hand tools including but not limited to screwdrivers, wrenches, levels, power saws, drills, electric test meters.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Can work inside and outside, exposed to extreme heat in summer and cold in winter; high humidity; dust; paint fumes; PVC glue and cleaner; risk of physical danger from electrical work and power tools and from work in dangerous locations; noise from saw, drills and grinders being operated.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED.
Hard hat, eye protection, gloves, closed-toed footwear, dust mask (as needed)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have ability to use basic hand tools.
Ability to read and interpret building plans.
Obtain OSHA certification within six months of employment.
Experience in general maintenance is preferred, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
knowledge is required.

Valid Texas Class A Driver's License.
