JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Building Supervisor, Part-Time

Reports to: Branch Executive Director

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Building Supervisor is primarily responsible for being the liaison between members and staff. They must maintain a positive interpretation and enforcement of facility policies, rules, and guidelines to the YMCA members, guests, and participants.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Shelby County YMCA is seeking a self-motivated, highly responsible person to be the Building Supervisor at times when YMCA leadership is not in the building. The Building Supervisor is responsible for making sure all members, staff and participants are following all YMCA policies, rules, and guidelines to ensure a high level of member satisfaction, enjoyment, and safety. They must handle member questions and address incidents as they occur.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age 18 years required.
• A high school diploma, or its equivalent, is preferred.
• Ability to work well with the public, have good communication and public relations skills.
• Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and New Employee Orientation or the ability to obtain such training within 60-90 days of employment.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule (weekdays, weekends, and evenings).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Designated as a First Responder in the event of an emergency.
• Demonstrate the YMCA Character Values and be an enthusiastic role model to YMCA members and guests.
• Ensure the safety of members and participants by promotion and following YMCA safety guidelines and procedures.
• Dress in approved YMCA attire and name tag.
• Provide guidance to members and guests in locating programs or activities.
• Be knowledgeable of gym, pool, and wellness/free weight area rules and schedules.
• Be able to assist members in answering questions and resolving conflicts in a positive manner.
• Assist Front Desk staff in giving tours.
• Assist program directors and/or program staff in setting up/taking down gym equipment.
• Report any facility or program concerns in writing.
• Monitors all activity both inside and outside: walk halls, check program areas, check locker rooms, and walk parking lot. Ensure facility safety and security.
• Attends all department training and meetings.
• Checks all emergency doors and to be sure they are locked and alarmed.
• Notifies supervisor in advance of absence and secures a substitute.
• Assists with other projects or activities as assigned.

The effectiveness of performance in this position can be judged by:

• Evidence of above average member service and helpful attitude toward staff.
• Knowledge of facility programs, rules, conflict resolution techniques.
• Facilities and grounds are secured and safe.
• Facility closing checklists/shift report are completed and submitted after each shift.
• The YMCA will exceed the expectations of all members and participants.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 per hour
