The Golf Assistant Superintendent is to assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course(s). In the absence of the Superintendent, it is the responsibility of the Assistant Golf Superintendent to ensure that all areas of the operation are functioning appropriately. This position manages key Grounds Associates, Interns, Irrigation Technician, and Spray Technician. The incumbent provides overall assistance in daily scheduling of activities pertaining to the total staff, as well as being responsible for the satisfactory completion of activities under his/her control. This position must also perform accurate record keeping and manage the pesticide and fertilizer application operations assigned to his/her area of responsibility.

The Assistant Superintendent is required to adjust his/her schedule according to the demands for that day. The day is complete when he/she has checked in with the Superintendent to make certain all tasks have been completed for that day.
• The Assistant will be required to supervise all pesticide and fertilizer applications to ensure the proper rate of the desired product was applied correctly. This will require lots of walking and at times on difficult terrain. Following all applications with this information needs to be properly documented and recorded daily.
• You will be expected to follow up on every task you assigned each employee to ensure the task was completed and performed as you so described to them.
• Communication is very important during construction projects. You will be expected to communicate effectively with your staff, contractors, architect/shapers, and especially your course Superintendent.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Responsible for keeping accurate and complete records, including but not limited to, payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, fertilizer and pesticide applications, any and all local, state or federal employee training documentation, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations.
Communicates, coordinates and meets with all relevant membership groups and committees. Coordinates operations with the Golf Professional. Responsible for maintaining a safe and accident free workplace through training, education and monitoring of all employees.
OTHER:
Assimilate into Trump National Doral Miami Cultural Foundation through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of the Trump Cornerstones. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Trump National Doral - Miami from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Requires excellent oral and written English communications skills; fluency in Spanish helpful but not required.
Ability to apply agronomic understanding to carry out and administer turfgrass programs and procedures.
Ability to deal with ever changing challenges on a minute by minute basis and instigate necessary corrections.
Ability to associate cause and effect agronomic relationships in daily golf course maintenance operations.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION:
B.S. degree in Agronomy or Ornamental Horticulture preferred but not essential; An Associate Degree in Turf Management a minimal requirement.
Two year certificate or higher (turf related field)
Attendance and certification at various GCSAA educational seminars useful.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in all facets of golf course maintenance, ideally at a highly ranked golf facility. Tournament preparation experience useful.
Knowledge of personal and /or desktop computer useful.
Some knowledge of Spanish helpful in the performance of this position.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must have minimum two year certificate or A.S. from a recognized turfgrass program.
