Building and Grounds Supervisor jobs in Monterey, CA

Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.   • Summary:

    Maintains buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of Fresh Express facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker must work closely with the staff and administration of Fresh Express responsible to the Utilities Supervisor

    Essential Functions:

    • Maintain buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.
    • Ensure that all activities conform to Fresh Express guidelines.
    • Communicate effectively with all members Utilities & Maintenance staff.
    • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
    • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

    • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
    • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
    • Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
    • Requires climbing and balancing.
    • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
    • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
    • Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
    • Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle.
    • Must be able to work in high places.

    General Responsibilities:

    Assist in maintaining buildings and grounds in top condition.
    Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of employees in buildings and grounds.
    Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.

    Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with:

    • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. B. exterior and interior of buildings.
    • Fresh Express grounds. Move equipment and materials within and between buildings.
    • Work overtime when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption of building
    • Act as a custodian when necessary
    • Observe district policies at all times
    • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
    • Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the
    • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
    • Other duties as assigned by the Utilities Supervisor or Plant Manager Staff

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in building and grounds operations
    • Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory
    • Ability to read chemical labels.
    • Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS)
    • Ability to initiate and complete work orders.
    • Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance
      carrier when driving a district vehicle
