San Bernardino County Land Use Services Department is looking for a Regional Building Inspector Supervisor to join a dynamic team dedicated to outstanding service, innovation, and teamwork. The Regional Building Inspector Supervisor will be responsible for supervising building inspection functions in an assigned geographical area including one or more offices. Duties include but are not limited to the following: supervise the work of assigned staff; prepare and sign work evaluations; review and adjust workloads; advise staff regarding code interpretation; assist in settling conflicts with builders concerning code interpretation or requirements.
Supervisors may be assigned to any location depending on business needs. The resulting eligible list may be used to fill vacancies throughout the County as they arise.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1) Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
2) Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment, including a fingerprint check.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience as a Building Inspector, performing journey-level building inspections for a public agency in California, with responsibility for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, ordinances and regulations and the authority to issue notices of correction and violation; AND one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience (may be concurrent).

CERTIFICATION: Current possession of International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Residential or Commercial Inspector, Certified Building Official, or Certified Plan Examiner. Indicate possession of certification(s) in the appropriate area of the application.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to guide staff in solving problems, while possessing extensive knowledge of the California Building Codes and the day-to-day operations of a Building and Safety regional office. Possession of a college degree in a related field and two years of progressively responsible supervision is highly desirable.
