    Position: Bus Driver
    Position Type: Non - Exempt / Annualized
    0-4 years experience = $20.25 / hour (BUS, Step 00)
    5-9 years experience = $22/ hour (BUS, Step 7)
    10 or more years experience = $24 / hour (BUS, Step 15)
    Position Hours: Full-time; Monday – Friday; 40 Hours per Week
    Length of Term/Employment: 190 days / At-will

    Position summary: The position of the Bus Driver is to transport students or special clients, persons with disabilities. Ensure adherence to safety rules. May assist passengers in boarding or exiting. Perform custodial duties and minor repairs. Assists in sanitation control and checks safety hazards. Receive supervision from school Principal, Campus Ops Manager, or Lead Custodian.

    Qualifications:
    • Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
    • Some custodial experience preferred.
    • Ability to assist in keeping the school clean and orderly.
    • Valid CDL with School Bus, Passenger, and Air Brakes endorsements.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 1 year experience as a school bus driver.
    • Active Region 20 bus driver training certificate.

    Job Duties:
    • Follow safety rules as student's board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops.
    • Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
    • Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
    • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
    • Keep bus interiors clean for passengers.
    • Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
    • Performs cleaning and janitorial duties, limited grounds maintenance, and minor repair work.
    • Reports needs for major repairs to lead custodian.
    • Keeps janitor's room neat and orderly and reports supply orders to lead custodian.
    • Mows and trims lawn and hedges. Cleans snow from entrances and sidewalks.
    • Assists in control of sanitation.
    • Assists in checking school for safety hazards and reports any deficiency.

    • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
    • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

    • Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
