BUS DRIVER

POSITION DETAILS SALARY ISSUE DATE: 01/12/2024 
30 hours per week $27.41 - $33.31 per hour APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open Until Filled 

This eligibility list will also be used for Bus Driver Substitutes.

POSITION BENEFITS
Pay increases: The first pay increase for regular employees occurs after 6 months if the employee passes the probationary period. Pay
increases occur annually thereafter, until top step is reached.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation, drive any transit-type or smaller school bus
to transport students in accordance with the requirements of school transportation schedules and traffic laws. Commitment to Los

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience 
Graduation from high school and a safe driving record. 
Valid California Special Driver Certificate for School Bus (DL-45) 
Valid California Class A or B driver license with passenger endorsement 
Valid medical card (DL-51) 
Valid Red Cross First Aid Card – only required if there is a restriction #6 on the Special Driver Certificate 
K-4 printout (current – within 30 days) 
Copy of T01 and T02 (Training Documents)

Be sure your application reflects all relevant experience, paid or volunteer. Attach a supplemental resume or other description of
experience if it is not adequately described on your application. Please attach copies of your California Special Driver Certificate,
California Class A or B driver license with passenger endorsement, medical card (DL-51), Red Cross First Aid Card (if
applicable), and H-6 printout (current – within 30 days) to your application.

Examination:
Applications may be screened to select the most qualified candidates.
The examination will consist of:

A – Written job knowledge test (30% of Total Score)
B – Structured oral interview (70% of Total Score)
C – Practical Bus Inspection and Bus Operation (Pass/Fail)

Some classifications require you to pass a physical examination and/or a practical examination. This examination is at the district’s expense and
the appointment is not assured until you have passed this examination. Applicants must attain a passing score of 70% on each part of the
examination in order to be placed on the eligibility list. Should a large number of candidates pass the written exam, a higher passing score than
70% may be required to progress. Application & Examination details along with information about the merit system are available on the Los

Candidates who pass the written and panel interview will be placed on an eligibility list valid for six (6) months.
