Business Analytics Director manages and oversees business analytics projects and processes to provide data-driven insights related to business performance used to advise and develop strategies for operational improvements and future business initiatives. Utilizes KPIs, business performance data, industry trends, competitor intelligence, and customer information to develop analytical tools, reports, and models across the organization to inform and support decision-making. Being a Business Analytics Director consults with stakeholders to understand the business model, objectives, issues, and challenges that analytics can support. Develops standards and collection processes to support robust analytics and reporting data pipelines. Additionally, Business Analytics Director builds teams with statistical methods, modeling, analytical methodologies, and data analysis skills to support the business. Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, statistics or a quantitative field. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Business Analytics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Analytics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Job Summary
    The primary responsibility of the Business Analyst is to provide functional support during project implementation and post support for the functional departments on software applications assigned. Collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements, processes, and workflows. The Business Analyst will also be involved in identifying areas for process improvement and recommending solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness of assigned area.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Evaluates current business processes and identifies potential areas for improvement.
    • Performs data queries/extracts & ad hoc reporting (report writer and/or reporting tools).
    • Researches and explores ERP application module functionality.
    • Prepares reports from ERP and other software applications necessary for the division.
    • The role will provide key analysis during the month and reporting cycle as well as comparisons and variance analysis as needed
    • Learns functionality of ERP application module(s) and other software applications assigned.
    • Develops fluency in other ERP module(s) and applications supported by the department.
    • Knowledge and application of analytical tools and methods, mining techniques; ability to construct and analyze data sets to answer business questions
    • Analysis and testing of software patches, reports, forms, interfaces.
    • Serves as liaison between the business stakeholders and technical solution
    • Gathers, analyzes, and documents business requirements from end-users on their application needs.
    • Develops training materials and Procedures Manual and/or Maintain setup documents for Software/Module area(s) of responsibility and conduct training sessions.
    • Proactively and consistently identify and implement opportunities to optimize performance within the college through the use of a variety of tools and resources
    • Support ad-hoc projects, analysis and other duties as assigned
    • Facilitates application vendor support.
    • Collaborates with staff on projects, tasks, scheduling, patches/upgrades, etc.
    • Interacts with the supported offices on a regular basis to ensure that business requirements are met.
    • Develops and executes testing plans for assigned projects to ensure project quality and delivery of the project’s requirements.
    • Maintains appropriate procedures that meet college and governmental policies and procedures.
    • May prepare or participate in the preparation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation as required.
    • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
    • Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on special projects.
    • Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines.
    • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College.
    • Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.

    • Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College’s Strategic Plan.
    • Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the department and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and community.

    • Serves on committees as appropriate and as appointed by supervisor.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Information Technology or another related field.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in research, analysis and/or business processes improvement
    • Experience with Ellucian Colleague or similar ERP.
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications and Smart Sheet (or another related project management tool)
    • Familiarity with different system integration and development environments
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

    Preferred Education and Experience
    • Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply instructions in application system manuals.
    • Documentation Skills (Swim Diagram, Gap Analysis, Process Flow, etc.).
