Business Application Delivery Manager manages a team of business application delivery programmers. The Safety Officer at IBS plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and the general public involved in highway maintenance operations. This position involves implementing and monitoring safety programs, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician).
· Knowledge of highway maintenance operations, equipment, and related safety challenges.
· Familiarity with relevant safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
· Analytical mindset to identify safety hazards and recommend effective solutions.
· Problem-solving skills to conduct thorough incident investigations.
· Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
· Proficiency with vehicle and equipment telematic solutions. Geotab experience preferred.
· Experience in conducting safety training and presentations.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
Safety Program Management:
· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies tailored to highway maintenance operations.
· Collaborate with management to establish cultural norms, safety goals, and objectives aligned with industry standards and regulations.
· Regularly review and update safety protocols to address emerging risks and best practices.
Safety Inspections and Audits:
· Conduct routine safety inspections of job sites, operational procedures, equipment, and facilities to identify potential hazards.
· Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
· Follow up on the implementation of corrective actions to ensure compliance
Incident Investigation:
· Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and safety-related complaints to determine root causes.
· Compile accurate incident reports, including documentation of findings, contributing factors, and recommended preventive measures.
· Work closely with relevant parties to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Training and Education:
· Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
· Ensure all employees are aware of safety regulations, guidelines, and protocols.
Safety Compliance:
· Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as industry standards.
· Keep abreast of changes in regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
· Liaise with regulatory agencies and participate in safety-related audits and inspections.
Emergency Response Planning:
· Assist in the development and testing of emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and coordination with local emergency services.
· Conduct drills and simulations to ensure preparedness for various emergency scenarios.
Safety Communication:
· Promote a strong safety culture by effectively communicating the importance of safety to all levels of the organization.
· Collaborate with management to create safety awareness campaigns and initiatives.
