    POSITION SUMMARY 

    This position reports to the IT Manager, is a member of the Technology department. The role of the Business Analyst will focus on Swire Shipping’s core ERP (Vessel Supply Chain) Application. Which includes owning the installation and configuration of product updates, integrations with key business systems, and deployment of the application ecosystem into both pre-production and production systems.  Efforts will also encompass supporting release management activities and response to break/fix issues.

     

    The successful candidate will need to have experience working with application systems, advanced technology, and problem-solving skills, working as a team member as well as being a self-starter. Additionally, strong attention to detail, organization, and planning, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, are required.   This position may be part of, or liaison with, a large project team in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and collaborative environment.  The role requires clear and effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical persons. Must be flexible and able to handle changing priorities over multiple projects, tasks, and situations.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    • Maintain installations of our ERP software modules in multiple environments. This requires working closely with technology team members, internal business partners, and external suppliers.
    • Work cohesively within the Technology Department to ensure the information on the systems and all associated activities are captured in the appropriate Technology knowledge repository system.
    • Participate in Product Release and Implementation Processes
    • Own and drive resolution of Production Issues on Business Systems
    • Support other Business Analysts as a subject matter related to software systems.
    • Manage relationships and provide a positive primary point of contact with external software vendors.
    • Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Participate in after hours on-call rotation (less than once a month)
       
    • Participate in Quarterly Release Projects (weekend activity)

    • Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

     

    KEY WORK RELATIONSHIPS

    The IT Business Analyst will work closely with all employees and will require a demonstration of strong competency and exemplary trustworthiness. The incumbent will coordinate with other members of the company including the leadership team such as Vice Presidents and Department Managers. The incumbent must be respectful of individuals of different cultural differences and personalities. This position will also interact with contractors on an occasional basis.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of a four-year bachelor’s (BS) degree in computer science, data analysis, information systems or equivalent.  
    • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years’ experience in key functions listed; with focus on active participation on software development team, software implementation, business analysis, and process design.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Experienced with application support or engineering
    • Advanced PC software skills, particularly advanced Office 365 
    • SQL knowledge
    • Integration and Interface Knowledge (EDI, XML, API)
    • Basic Windows Task scheduler and Job/Services Management skills.
    • Basic Networking and Window Server Skills.
    • Basic working knowledge of internal IT controls assessment, development, and monitoring.
    • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and driven to meet deadlines.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills.
    • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to identify issues, analyze options, and recommend a course of action to diverse audiences. 
    • Remain positive and energetic while meeting project deadlines.
    • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision. 
    • Must enjoy a dynamic environment and be able to remain flexible and manage multiple priorities.
    • Familiarity with the maritime and/or transportation industries, desired but not required.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

    To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.  The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements. Must be able to support or lift and carry 1-10 pounds frequently, 20-40 pounds occasionally.  Must be able to extend hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment as necessary.  Work requires high attention and mental demands, including the ability to prioritize and process information with accuracy and clarity. The ability to handle mentally stressful situations and maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.
