Business Banking Manager manages a business banking team building and maintaining relationships with clients by providing service and support. Ensures clients have an effective team to help them best understand and use company products.   • JOB SUMMARY: Business Manager position who are innovative, enthusiastic and looking for the opportunity to prepare students for a successful future.  Significant job responsibilities for the Business Manager Position are: accurate and efficient management of financial and operating affairs of a school district. This may include, but is not limited to: payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting and control, budget preparation and control, and purchasing. Applicant must possess a high degree of business and administrative ability. The duties will be governed from the direction of the School Superintendent with considerable latitude for independent judgment within the framework of general financial and operating policies of the Hopi Junior/Senior High School. Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel in the business office.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    1. Administers financial affairs for the District and provides the best possible educational services with fiscal resources available while performing necessary tasks insuring financial stability and fiscal responsibility.
    2. Determines and obtains revenues legally authorized to the Hopi Junior/Senior High School from local, State, federal and other sources.
    3. Assists the Superintendent of Schools and Governing Board in planning business and financial affairs of the School District and make judicial and prudent decisions concerning expenditures of valuable resources.
    4. Prepares and submits tax reports as required by law to federal and state agencies.
    5. Prepares estimates and/or analyses of revenue, expenditures, budget requests, program proposals, program costs, methods of financing including long-range projections of requirements.
    6. Establishes and supervises a program of accounting adequate to record in detail all money and credit transactions.
    7. Maintains a continuous internal auditing program for all funds. Prepares month-end reconciliations.
    8. Develops budget guidelines; coordinates preparation of the budget, and assists key administrators in review of the budget.
    9. Develops budgets for grant proposals according to funding guidelines.
    10. Monitors status of submitted grants and follow-up with funding agencies ensuring all federal and state timelines are met in regard to financial reporting.
    11. Recommends and implements appropriate internal and external audit functions.
    12. Conducts long range planning and budget forecasting to determine major sources of revenue; then pursue each source, ensuring the greatest return on investments for financial stability.
    13. Supervises and evaluates Business Office staff.
    14. Approves and signs purchase orders after determining they are in compliance with budget and cash requirements.
    15. Signs all checks (including payroll) upon verification that appropriate documentation has been collected.
    16. Opens all Business Office mail and maintains a log of all checks and wire transfer or other payments which are received on behalf of the HJSHS.
    17. Primarily responsible for negotiation of all contracts with granting agencies, in consultation with the HJSHS School Superintendent.
    18. Has final approval on all travel advances.
    19. Primary responsibility for preparation of school department and other budgets with assistance from Principals and School Superintendent.
    20. Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Hopi Junior/Senior High School Governing Board Policies and Procedures ad certified financial accounting and reporting policies and procedures.
    21. Manage conflict constructively at all levels.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    1. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all Hopi Junior/Senior High School requirements and Board policies.
    2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community.
    3. Effective organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills.
    4. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data.
    5. Skills and experience with computer and data management skills, including Excel, other accounting related software, and other business software tools relative to job requirements and duties.
    6. Exhibit a working knowledge of Arizona School Finance and Federal laws and regulations.
    7. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders.
    8. Ability to analyze data and assess considerable quantities of information, then predicate recommendations.
    9. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, requiring the ability to interact professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff and the public.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. BS/BA in Business Administration or Accounting or High School diploma and five (5) years related experience
    2. Previous successful experience in serving as a Business Manager/Technician in a PL 100-297 Grant or Bureau of Indian Affairs School preferred.

     

    PREFERRED QUAILIFICATIONS:

    1. Hopi/Indian Preference in employment considered.
    2. Valid State Driver Licenses.
    3. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    4. Must successfully pass employment background checks within the last five years which include state, federal and local tribe.
