Job Summary:
The Data Scientist and Business Analyst collects large amounts of data using analytical, statistical, and programmable skills and is responsible for building, analyzing, enhancing, and supporting best in class, business focused reporting and analytics and driving business decisions based on data science.
This individual will be working as part of the organization’s science and planning team to support multiple initiatives. The science and planning team supports several key areas of the organization, which include Finance (AP, AR, GL), Fundraising (including state and local chapters), Marketing, Conservation, Outreach, Development, and other organization users to design and deliver PowerBI dashboards and reports to satisfy reporting requirements of the organization regarding mission delivery.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and deploy custom solutions and data models using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate) and best practices for report creation and visualizations
- Build predictive models on member behavior; examples include: the likelihood to donate, the likelihood to engage with a marketing message, or estimating propensity for giving.
- Design and conduct statistical experiments to measure the efficiency of marketing campaigns and find new opportunities to develop or use data analytics to meet business objectives.
- Mine for insights by using exploratory data analysis and or interpreting model results.
- Work closely with others to create a culture for self-service reporting and dashboard creation in order to help staff and senior management understand the member insights, behaviors, audience performance, and predictability.
- Integrate Dashboards into applications using Embedded Analytics.
- Work with cross-functional departments or teams to understand requirements and goals, find new efficiencies, deliver optimal products, and implement new strategies.
- Provide technical guidance, showcase insights, and educate other staff members on developed products, which highlight advancing Customer Engagement (CE) strategies and contributions.
- Develop plans and timelines for individual projects leverage tools such as Jira to track and catalog work, and communicate progress to direct leadership.
- Manage, troubleshoot, continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the Power Platform applications.
- Build and modify tables, views and optimize SQL queries, indexes as needed.
- Responsible for implementing best practices in security and access requirements when developing Dashboards.
- Attend annual NWTF Convention, regional meetings and training opportunities, as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products.
- Strong experience in Business Analytics tools developing Reporting and Dashboards.
- Strong understanding and experience with extracting data out of Dynamics 365 CE (OData, Azure Data Factory, etc.).
- Experience working with Power Platform (Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power BI).
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 modules such Customer Service, Customer Insights, Marketing and working with data structures, entities, relationships, fields, and other data types.
- Experience working with Tableau.
- Experience working with ESRI products.
- Strong experience in Business Analytics and Dashboards using PowerBI - M Query, DAX, Data Modelling, Row Level Security (RLS).
- Good communication skills to translate business requirements into Dashboards and Reporting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience applying data science modeling techniques and proper statistical testing methodology to member or guest behavior and Marketing engagement.
- 5 years of experience in PowerBI Business Analytics tools developing Reporting and Dashboards.
- 5 years in Reporting and Analytics using Power BI - M Query, DAX, Data Modelling, Row Level Security (RLS).
- 5 years in database technologies and strong SQL query writing skills, preferrable SQL Server.
- Software Development, DBA, SQL, ERP, CRM, or other IT related experience is a plus.
- (Preferred) Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
