Leading a Team of Business Development Managers, the BD Director will develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy with accountability for winning new business. Additionally, working with Marketing, the BD Director will develop new customer and business solutions to support direct customers and channel partners. Development of strategic and value-added relationships with Customers will be critical to advancing short- and longer-term growth objectives. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Lead, manage and develop a team of BD Managers to win new business and achieve growth targets Develop and cascade business segment strategy to BD Managers and support execution of action plans, targeted at achieving above-market growth. Proactively identify and obtain new business opportunities with new and existing customers, focus is winning new business with new customers – new brands, new markets, etc. Identify and align company and customer resources to win new business. Lead team in customer partnership and problem-solving - from strategy development to product line trials to closing business (win). Lead team to grow accounts, brands and wins to achieve agreed upon sales and share targets Work with Marketing to map pertinent industry categories and geographies according to market growth initiatives, prioritize according to attractiveness & business potential and develop prospecting plan according to Lead Generation process. Develop deep understanding of the markets’ needs and overall business (marketplace, channel, retailer, consumer, competitive environment, strategy, productivity, profitability across the value chain. Value Selling – Drive team execution of sales targets for packaging solutions for prospects. Fully understand product portfolio for Packaging Materials, Containers, Closures, Caps, Fitments, Preforms, etc. Work with marketing and team to identify and develop packaging and filling processing solutions portfolio for all channels – direct, distribution, co-packers and e-commerce. Lead team in the development and presentation of packaging solutions to prospects with end to end value chain business approach Bring creative solutions to grow business in non-traditional markets and enhance Beverage asset utilization. Provide input to Marketing (customer / market feedback on product performance gaps / improvement needs) and business intelligence (manufacturers, competitors) Drive sustainability agenda and deploy sustainability solutions in alignment company goals.
