Job Description
KSLD is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Business Development to lead our efforts in driving business growth and expanding the market presence of our innovative products. The ideal candidate will be a results driven professional with a track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities. The Director of Business Development will play a key role in shaping the company’s growth strategy, building, and nurturing customer relationship. In this role, the Director will closely collaborate with KSLD’s Market Segment Directors, Product Development team, Quality Team, Finance team, and Operations.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
Strong comprehension of business development process and systems; able to identify gaps and streamline and organize business development system and processes.
Understanding and analyzing the customer needs/problems and work with the internal cross functional team to present unique solutions within a timely manner.
Developing deep understanding of the target industry and application landscape including customers, requirements, competitors, and regulatory factors.
Organizing and driving the capture of detailed customer requirements and needs.
Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and potential partnerships within other markets.
Create and lead capture plans for target accounts with detailed action planning and timelines.
Assess and manage potential risk associated with business development activities and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities.
Ability to review and negotiate contracts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Work closely with Customers and with the KSLD team in technical product marketing, engineering, finance, ops, and quality to pursue customer opportunities, and win orders and contracts that generate profitable revenue for the company.
Experience and Skills
BS Engineering or Science mandatory, MS, or PhD Engineering with focus on Optics/Lasers desired. MBA and/or other advance degree is a plus.
10 years of working experience in business development, product management and/or product marketing role in a quality-driven global organization.
5 years in business development role for semiconductor devices such as laser diodes, LEDs, or others, with laser diode experience strongly preferred.
Experience in the laser industry and/or lighting industry is highly preferred.
Strong background and experience working with major OEMs and Tier1s in large industries such as laser or lighting industry.
Flexibility to effectively adapt to work with different market segments or industries. (Lighting/specialty laser/medical etc.)
Systematic and organized approach to designing and executing strategies.
Systematic and organized approach to collecting and organizing key customer information such as product requirements.
Proven leadership in managing cross-functional activities as a leader and as contributor.
Should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills through managing by influence. Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Strong coaching skills, team builder.
Positive attitude, driven to win, desire to work with customers globally.
Excellent working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.
The full-time base salary range for the Director – Business Development position is $187,000 to $220,000 per annum. The range reflects the minimum and maximum possible base salary for new hires for the role, based on the advertised location. Individual pay is determined by several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
